افتراضي Meaning of tbarkAllah by Shaykh Maher

In the name of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

1) What is the legislated supplication to remove the evil eye

The prophet sala Allah alayhi wa salam has shown this in the most complete way as it has come in
the muwata of Malik radia Allah anhu that Muhammad ibn Abi Umama ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf heard his father say, "My father, Sahl ibn Hunayf did a ghusl at al-Kharrar. He removed the jubbah he had on while Amir ibn Rabia was watching, and Sahl was a man with beautiful white skin. Amir said to him, 'I have never seen anything like what I have seen today, not even the skin of a virgin.' Sahl fell ill on the spot, and his condition grew worse. Somebody went to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and told him that Sahl was ill, and could not go with him. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came to him, and Sahl told him what had happened with Amir. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Why does one of you kill his brother? Why did you not say, "May Allah bless you?" (ala barakt) The evil eye is true. Do wudu from it.' Amir did wudu from it and Sahl went with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and there was nothing wrong with him

In the statements of the prophet sala Allah alayhi wa salam 'ala barakt' why did you not say may Allah bless you, in it is shown what to say when you see something you like in your brother and you afraid of hurting him with the evil eye. Ala barakt (did you say may Allah bless you) was explained with what has come from Muamr al Uzadi in his collection with a sahih narration that the prophet sala Allah alayhi wa salam said If one of you sees what he likes he must make du'a for him to be blessed
And has come from Ibn Majah that the prophet sala Allah 'alayhi wa salam said if one of you sees something he likes in his brother, he must ask for blessings for him

As well as narrated by Ahmed in his Musnad and by al-Bayhaqi and al-Tabaraniand and al-Hakaam in his mustadrak and also Abi 'Asim all through Abi Umama ibn Sahl and they all agreed upon his statement sala Allah alayhi wa salam for the one that was afflicted with the evil eye "Amir" ibn Rabiaa. Ala barakt, its meaning is what has come in the other narration: if you see something you like in your brother ask for blessing by supplicating

The supplication legislated for removing the evil eye is the supplication that the sunnah of the prophet sala Allah alayhi wa salam has clarified in the explained narrations among them that he supplicates for him in blessings as stated by ibn al Qaym and ibn Abd al-Barr in their tafsir (explanation) as they said to say Allahuma barek feeh or 'alayh

2) Meaning of Ala barakt did you say may Allah bless

The blessing means growth or increase
And al-tabrik is the supplication of blessings

Al-Suyuti said in al-deebaaj, the blessings or al-baraka is requesting an increase in goodness and dignity and it was also said cleansing and stability... The meaning of the prophet sala Allah 'alayhi wa salam 'ala barakt' is explained by That he supplicates for him in blessings saying Allahuma barek feeh or 'alayh

The meaning of the prophet sala Allah 'alayh wa salam ala barakt that he says tabarka Allah that is not correct because the meaning of tabarkAllah is to glory and venerate and that is for Allah in
reverance it has nothing to do with supplicating blessings for the appointed one

And may the peace and blessings be upon our prophet Muhammed

Shaykh Maher Bin Dhafer Al Qahtani
